This new food bank, owned and operated by Open Heart Kitchen, is a regional distribution center for Tri-Valley pantries and a pilot project for other potential regional food distribution centers in the East Bay. Previously, pantries throughout Alameda County received distributions through the Alameda County Food Bank in Oakland, a long-commute distance for pantries in the east and south sides of the County. The OHK Food Bank is the new receiving center for the pantries within the cities of Dublin, Pleasanton, and Livermore.
The food bank will include receiving and distribution areas, freezer and refrigeration storage, dry storage, pantry shopping areas, offices, and a volunteer area.
