Palo Alto, CA
This state-of-the-art facility blends the modern appeal of Silicon Valley with the classic mission elements of historic buildings on campus and across the street at Stanford University. The 582 seat main theater includes a Meyer sound system, full fly loft and motorized orchestra pit. The parterre provides access to second floor side boxes creating an intimate environment for a theater of this size. An arched ante-proscenium and open coffered ceiling mask three lighting catwalks and two utility walks from audience view.
A Collaborative for High Performance Schools project, the Performing Arts Center features passive solar design and the creative use of many environmentally sustainable materials and healthy building systems including the utilization of a rigging pit and terraced seating sub-structures as plenums for displaced air ventilation and conditioning.
